Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine
Dr. Heald was born and raised in Calgary. Her healthcare career began in 1979, when she trained as a registered nurse. Her area of specialty in nursing was focused primarily in Emergency Medicine but included several years in community based medicine as well. After 18 years she switched professions and pursued her lifelong dream of practicing medicine, so in 2008, she graduated from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine (a fully accredited naturopathic medical school in Vancouver, BC).
She has an in-depth understanding and great respect for conventional medicine, but is passionate about Functional and Integrative medicine. Delving into biochemistry is her favorite part of solving health riddles! When the body is returned to its ideal environment, it is able to heal itself. Health and illness form a continuum. Understanding and teaching nutrition and healthy lifestyle and addressing concerns before they become illness is a niche naturopathic medicine achieves. Dr. Heald's special interests within the field of naturopathic medicine include environmental medicine and detoxification of toxins and mold, digestive disturbances and food sensitivities, hormone balancing, as well as joint restoration using PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma Injection) Prolotherapy.
Dr. Heald travels across North America lecturing to healthcare professionals on detoxification and lifestyle medicine. She has completed her fellowship in Integrative Cancer Therapy and is commencing studies in a Masters Degree in Metabolic and Nutritional Medicine. She achieved her fellowship in Functional and restorative Medicine in 2012.
Dr, Heald is board certified in acupuncture and minor surgery, as well as being certified in intravenous therapy, advanced cardiac life support, chelation therapy, neural therapy, ozone therapy, prolotherapy and has prescriptive rights in BC. Dr. Heald served as a board member of the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta from 2011-2014, and chaired the competence committee. She remains a member of the College. She is a member of the College of Naturopathic Physicians of BC and was formerly an advisor to the quality assurance committee, as well as being a member of the American College for the Advancement of Medicine, the Institute for Functional Medicine and the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine. She served as an advisor on the customer council for Metagenics Inc. and as a board member of the Daraja Foundation that supports Zanzibar's Mnazi Mmoja Hospital and Mazizni Orphanage.
Dr. Heald raised three amazing children and now loves to travel with her husband. She has one marathon to her credit but prefers interval training and Ashtanga yoga.
Dr. Heald will be joining Woodgrove Pines Wellness Clinic full-time in June.

Dr. Stacey Neilson holds a Double Advanced Major in Biology & Neuroscience from Dalhousie University; as well, a doctorate in Natural Medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Dr. Neilson is also board certified in Acupuncture, Intravenous & Chelation Therapy and holds prescriptive authority in the province of BC.
Stacey has a great passion for helping others improve their health through Science based Natural Medicine. She enjoys sharing her excitement and belief in the power of a person’s capacity to be and remain healthy when given the right tools.
Her goal as a Naturopathic Doctor is to understand you, the patient and all the factors that affect your health. Treatment is highly individualized and focused on the underlying causes of illness and imbalance using natural medicines and therapies to create an environment for your body to heal.
Her Naturopathic practice includes clinical nutrition, vitamin injections, homeopathy, acupuncture, botanical medicine, detoxification and specialized testing. Also, Injection therapies including homeopathic biopuncture, which is the injection of dilute natural products for pain and inflammation, sports injuries, arthritis and muscular problems. IV therapies include high-dose vitamin and chelation therapy for heart disease and detoxification.
Stacey is a mother of 3 and an actively training athlete. Her practice is a family practice welcoming all ages and health conditions. Any and all wellness and medical conditions can benefit from Naturopathic Medicine- stress, fatigue, anxiety, depression, hormone imbalances, digestive disturbances, pain, allergies and the list goes on.
Dr. Neilson is very grateful for her life. She considers it a privilege to practice Naturopathic Medicine. In addition to helping others improve their health and well-being she also manages to find the time and energy to pursue her other passions in life: Living an active life with her husband and children, her ongoing training in triathlon as well as yoga, dance, alpine and Nordic skiing, camping and outdoor pursuits. She lives each day to the fullest on beautiful Vancouver Island.
