ScottSM.jpgDr. Stacey Scott, D.C. (Hon), FCCSS (C)*
Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Stacey Scott is a chiropractor and owner of a very successful private practice, which she founded in 1994 in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Dr. Scott graduated with both academic and clinical honours. Upon graduation she continued to study kinesiology, psychology, nutrition and sports nutrition. She also completed part one and part two of the American Team Physicians course. In 1996 she received her fellowship in Sports Injury and Rehabilitation*. This deems her a sports specialist by the Canadian Chiropractic Association. In 2004 Dr. Scott became a certified provider of Active Release Therapy (A.R.T.).

stacey_olympic_pic.jpgDr. Scott was a member of the Canadian Olympic Health Care Team during the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver/Whistler BC, which in her words was, “the experience of a lifetime! Working with fellow professionals and athletes from around the world was everything I imagined and more. One couldn’t ask for a better opportunity!” In fact, the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College did a feature on Dr. Scott and fellow colleague Dr. Liza Grant in their issue of "Primary Contact", of which the excerpt can be found HERE.

Dr. Scott is an official SportHealth partner of PacificSport (Vancouver Island) in affiliation with world class, champion athletes! For those not in the know, PacificSport helps Canada win medals by delivering sport performance programs and services to provide athletes and coaches living in BC with every advantage to win medals for Canada. Additionally, Dr. Scott has been a past member of the Sports Medicine Staff involved with the UCI BMX World Championships, the Victoria International Marathon, the Professional World Cup of Track Cycling and the Vancouver Sun Run (over 30,000 participants!)

Dr. Scott's approach to treatment focuses on the biomechanics of the body and the principle that optimal joint function is based on proper soft tissue function and vice versa. She has found her enhanced training to complement her chiropractic approach, especially for long standing or repetitive strain injuries where joint, muscle or other soft tissue involvement is present. Emphasis is also placed on rehabilitation to improve strength, flexibility and mobility. Dr. Scott is passionate about chiropractic and is dedicated to effectively and efficiently treating the specific causes and symptoms of each patient's conditions.

Personally, Dr. Scott is an exercise enthusiast, completing her first marathon in 1999. She understands that complete health encompasses a healthy mind, healthy diet and a regular exercise program. She lives what she believes. To that end, she guides and encourages her patients to incorporate this formula into their daily lives.

Audrey_P1000912.jpgDr. Audrey Cameron B.Sc. D.C.
Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Cameron received her B.Sc.in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. She then worked in a chiropractic office in Calgary for 2 years, and after witnessing the tremendous benefits that chiropractic has to offer, she moved to Toronto to complete the four-year chiropractic program at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

Dr. Cameron volunteers her time as a member of the interview team for acceptance to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. In addition she is an examiner with the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board, and held a position on the Medical Advisory Board with The World Health Club in Calgary. She has a strong interest in sports, having worked as a trainer with a boys Bantam AA hockey team and has competed in soccer at the university level.

Dr. Cameron moved to Nanaimo to be closer to family. She comes to us from Calgary where she helped to grow the largest group of multidisciplinary clinics in Canada that offers chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, physiotherapy and many more services.  She is excited to be joining the team at Woodgrove Pines Clinic where they share the same multidisciplinary model that is such a great benefit for patients.

She also hopes to take advantage of the many amenities unique to Vancouver Island and hopes to see herself out on the water in a kayak as well as learning about the different types of fishing.  Water has always been a draw for her and what better place to take full advantage of what it has to offer than the “Harbour City”!

Dr. Cameron also has a great love for animals, becoming a veterinarian was a consideration in high school, and she spent many hours volunteering and working for veterinarians in both small animal and large animal clinics.  She even spent some time working on the farm haying and milking the cows, and spent a very rewarding couple of years working for Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind in Ottawa.  But ultimately the principles behind chiropractic and treating the body as a whole won her over.  She is considering adding animal chiropractic to her skills in the future.

Dr. Cameron now looks to bring her knowledge of musculoskeletal injuries and her positive attitude to the community.

Derek_Brown_1.jpgDr. Derek Brown D.C.
Doctor of Chiropractic

Having grown up in Nanaimo, Dr. Derek Brown couldn’t be more excited about returning home to establish his Chiropractic practice. Having long ago participated in a wide variety of youth sports such as hockey, soccer, baseball, and tennis, Dr. Brown is looking forward to being able to give back to the community that has provided him with so much.

After five years spent studying Kinesiology at VIU and the University of Victoria, Dr. Brown moved to Toronto and spent the next 4 years earning the Doctor of Chiropractic designation from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

A multidisciplinary approach to care is best able to meet the varying needs of the modern patient and Dr Brown is happy to be joining such a team at Woodgrove Pines Clinic. He firmly believes that the vast majority of aches and pains that are rampant in today’s society can be addressed and remedied through Chiropractic care. Dr. Brown’s approach includes hands on manual therapy to restore normal joint and soft tissue function, the prescription of individualized exercises and stretches, advice on posture and daily activities, and suggestions on dietary modification or supplementation where appropriate.

Dr. Brown remains an avid sport and outdoors enthusiast and firmly believes in living each day to its fullest. It’s that kind of positive approach that Dr. Brown brings to our clinic and to the Nanaimo community. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Brown to our team of health care professionals!
