Supporting the Human Mind, Body and Life

acupuncture1.jpgOriental Medicine is a form of medical practice that dates back approximately 2,500 years. The main branches are acupuncture and herbology, which are used to evoke a self-regulating response in patients. Others include diet, lifestyle, and "tui na" (massage).

Acupuncture is based on energy or "Qi" (chee). Your vital Qi is the energy responsible for supporting the human mind, body and life, and what happens to one part of the body will influence another part since everything is interconnected.

This vital Qi flows through our bodies along pathways or meridians. These meridians correspond to different organs, their systems and functions. Acupuncture is the insertion of extremely fine needles into specific acupuncture points along these meridians to bring about positive changes in the flow of Qi to restore balance to the body.

Modern research has shown acupuncture stimulates activity in different parts of the brain and increases endorphin production, and activates both the endocrine and immune systems. When your body is in balance and your Qi is free flowing we have a general state of well-being and ease. We feel physically strong, mentally clear, have normal digestion, sleep well, and wake refreshed ready to start our day. When there is an imbalance of Qi it can lead to discomfort, illness, disorder, disease and/or pain.

After an acupuncture treatment patients have reported reduction or elimination of pain, a balancing of the body, feeling more relaxed, and a greater sense of well-being.

Common ailments that can be treated with acupuncture include:

  • Digestive Complaints
  • Carpal Tunnel
  • Constipation
  • Sciatica
  • IBS
  • Low Immune System
  • Inflammation
  • Stress Management
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Back Pain
  • Preventative Health (general support to the body to keep it well)

The Initial Visit includes a 30 minute assessment and one hour of treatment. Subsequent Visits are one hour.
